Just five more minutes !

Hello everyone,

Again, it's been a while... I'd like to say that I promise to get better, but I say so every time I post... so... Plus, my father, stepmother and sister are coming to visit next week (arriving on the 6th), so I know I won't be able to do much scrapbooking/blogging!

Anyway, onto my new LO!

I played for the "Once upon a sketch challenge"... We had to write about something we miss... Well, I miss my lovely nephew... every day... So I thought he would make for a great subject!

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS LO

* I am happy I used various materials: stick pins, crackle paint, embossing folder
* I don't know why but, even if I love MME papers, I always have a hard time using them... And here I did, and I'm happy with the result!
* I have been waiting to buy a notebook border punch for a while

Hello everyone,

Today, I am sharing a card I made for my mother-in-law's birthday. I had to make it quickly since my fiancé had to leave and take it with him.

I don't know why, but I always find card sketches daunting... I always end up with something I am not really satisfied with! Too close to the sketch maybe. Then, I have a look at other scrappers' creations and they look amazing!

So, today, I decided not to use a sketch. The only thing I knew is that I wanted to use one of my Spellbinder's dies to create a funky shape (got the tip from Jennifer McGuire or Kristina Werner). So, in case you don't know it, I am going to share: to cut a card into the desired shape with a die, place the folded cardstock on the die, but leave the folded edge hang OUT of the die. This way, you'll cut around the paper, but the folded edge will stay intact and you will be able to open your card :)

So, here is what the final card looks like


After cutting up the shape, I just wanted to align three stamped butterflies on the white cardstock. Unfortunately, my stamps were too big to fit. So, I decided I would "give it a pop" with some bright PP. And I felt like the shape on this red one coordinated pretty well with the shape. Seemed all oriental to me :p

Then, I thought about stamping the sentiment, but I felt like the PP was too busy already. So, I cut out three butterflies out of the same collection, and I stamped the sentiment inside, together with three rhinestones.

Finally, I added some black faux stitching because I felt like the outside was too bare.

I am not showing the inside because I took the pictures after writing my card, so it feels kind of too personal, don't know why!

Well, I don't think anything is old enough to be called stash. However, I haven't bought anything new to make the card... So nothing and everything qualifies!

* I didn't use a sketch
* I used my Big Shot, and if you read my blog, you know I LOOOOVE to use it!
* Love the colours, the pattern... the general feel!

 Hello everyone,

So, long time no write (can I modify the actual expression to write this?!)! As predicted, I have been REALLY busy, worked about 53 hours last week... I guess it might not seem a lot to some of you, but I normally work 37,5 hours... And as a French person, I should fight for my 35 hours! But I don't mind, I did lots of new things at work and I loved every piece of it! But this week is more quiet, and I have to say that I like being home with my fiancé (let's call him S. from now on) and my kitty cat Gaston (let's call him Gaston, shall we... after all, it's his name :p).

I just finished my homemade mayonnaise (yummy) and I am waiting for my leeks to be cooked so we can have dinner. And I thought that, in the mean time, it was time for me to blog!

Anyway, do you know Pam, over at Pamela's world of scrap? Well, if you don't (which I doubt), walk.. no RUN and visit her blog! She has fantastic ideas and makes fabulous designs. Anyway, I fell in love with one of her LOs and thought I would scraplift it... Bad me... But then, I know that she underwent surgery and can't blog not scrap as much. So, I thought that sharing one of her creations might do her well... Even if I am sure nobody is going to forget her!

So, she shared this LO in Jan. (yes, click, click, go!) and I instantly knew I would have to scraplift it!

And here is my take on it

The background is the Picadilly collection from BG. I used the "Out of Print" collection for the circles (6x6 pad)

The heart is, if I'm not mistaken, from Artemio! Love the TPC fiber! (or is it TCP, I'll check out!)

I cut out a AC sticker, and it fit perfectly the size of the circle! PERFECT!!!

For the flower, I used a Spellbinder die, it's BEAUTIFUL! Some layering, some brads... AWESOME!

I stamped and clear embossed a nice shape. Then I put some distress ink on the side!

Used some washi tape, layered more flowers. I used a square shape I got at some Dollar Store, and I painted some yellow crackle paint on it.

Thickes and a alpha. To cut the first words, I used a Sizzix die.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS LO

* I used washi, YYYYEEEAAAHHHHH
* The title... Just the title is a story. It's a sentence my nephew used to say when he was like 2 or 3... It's from Snow White!
* I love the pop of colours in front of the off-white background... And the black twine too!
* I liked using stickers and stuff!

Hello everyone and happy new week!

I hope everyone has had a great week end! As far as I am concerned, I have been trying to keep it pretty calm since I had a crazy week at work, and I know the next one won't be any different. But, on the other hand, I love the new responsibilities I have, it makes my job that much more interesting since it's more diversified! Who thought a translator's life could be so exciting?!

Now, onto scrapping!! This week, there was no sketch on the BG blog... They decided to give us a LO and asked us to scraplift it... Well, no need to say one more word! I mean, the designers over at Basic Grey are nothing short of AMAZING, so if you give me the chance to scraplift one of their LOs, I'll gladly oblige you! It's like leaving me in my favorite shop and tell me to take anything for free... But, I am dreaming right now... too bad though!

So, here are a few close-ups

I didn't have that beautiful flower, so I made my own with some fabric I got at Walmart.  See how I sprayed the tags with some Glimmer Mist? I used some spellbinders as masks/stencils.

I used the same Glimmer mist on all the papers, so they would "feel the same", even if they already come from the same collection. I used "Iced spruce" distress ink around all of them too.

See how I dared using gems?! I'm happy because I downloaded the "Typewriter font" on Dafont.com! I love it :) I haven't written my journaling on the computer in forever but I love the clean look it gives to the page!
